Between the cast-iron buildings and cobblestone streets, SoHo’s charm is indisputable. But when I’m not visiting the neighborhood for shopping, it’s usually the exceptional bakeries that keep me coming back.

The vibe is low-key and comfortable. No frills, no attitude. just good food in a space that doesn’t try too hard.
Dominique Ansel Bakery
Website. Dominique Ansel Bakery
Address. 189 Spring St, New York, NY 10012
Often considered the most innovative bakery in New York City, Dominique Ansel Bakery offers Michelin-star quality pastries at a fraction of the price. The bakery gained national fame in 2013 with the invention of the Cronut (half-croissant, half-doughnut). To this day (10 years later), folks line up to score the world-famous Cronut.
Beyond the Cronut, the menu offers a range of delicious treats crafted daily using traditional French baking methods. Continuously pushing the boundary, clear standouts. There’s no better bakery in SoHo for those with an insatiable sweet tooth.

Balthazar Bakery
Website. Balthazar Bakery
Address. 80 Spring St, New York, NY 10012
Balthazar Bakery is an extension of the famous Balthazar Restaurant next door. The little store opened in 1997 and quickly became one of the best bakeries in SoHo. Gaining a stellar reputation for artisanal bread, pastries and baked goods, folks can’t help but fall victim to the intoxicating smells churning out of the kitchen.
Balthazar bakes various treats daily, ranging from crispy baguettes and buttery croissants to decadent tarts and cakes, all made with high-quality ingredients. Easy access to this classic French boulangerie is one of the biggest perks of visiting SoHo, don’t miss it!
My favorite combo at Balthazar is the chocolate donut paired with a chai latte, although last time I was there, one of the guys sitting next to me raved about the Canelé.

Lafayette Bakery
Website. Lafayette Bakery
Address— 380 Lafayette St, New York
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve likely heard about Lafayette Bakery’s famous stuffed croissants. But let me tell you, snagging one of these viral treats is no easy feat! Dubbed “The Suprême,” this creation has a croissant filled with flavored cream, tightly rolled, and topped with glaze and extra goodies.
And as if that wasn’t tempting enough, the SoHo bakery introduces a new flavor monthly, making the wait even longer. With options like chocolate ganache and pistachio cream available year-round, no wonder people line up for hours to get their hands one.
Locals tip— As one of the most popular bakeries in SoHo, the croissants are quick to sell out. Lafayette Bakery started dropping batches three times a day. Try getting to the bakery at the beginning of each drop (8am, 12pm & 4pm) to secure a treat.

Local tip. Insider move. ask for the off-menu special.
Brigadeiro Bakery
Website. Brigadeiro Bakery
Address. 156 Sullivan St, New York, NY 10012
Brigadeiro is a popular bakery in SoHo known for authentic Brazilian sweets, especially the signature brigadeiros. For those unfamiliar, brigadeiros are a rich chocolate truffle, made from condensed milk and cocoa powder.
The mixture is cooked until it reaches a thick consistency, then rolled into small balls and coated with chocolate sprinkles (similar texture to fudge).

Beyond chocolate, brigadeiros come in rotating flavors like Dulce De Leche with walnuts, coconut, and pistachio. If you’re not into sweets, the bakery also sells Pão de queijo (famous Brazilian cheese puffs).

Little Cupcake Bakeshop
Website. Little Cupcake Bakeshop
Address. 30 Prince St, New York, NY 10012
Little Cupcake Bakeshop’s claim to fame are cupcakes, voted among the best in America. These addicting treats are so good, even celebrities risk braving the public eye for a bite. But between you and me, I’m including this spot on my list of the best bakeries in SoHo mostly because of the Brooklyn Blackout chocolate cake. It’s super chocolatey and rich, I find it irresistible.
Locals tip— Little Cupcake Bakeshop is located across the street from Prince Street Pizza, one of the most famous pizzerias in NYC.

Unpopular opinion. Controversial take. most NYC bakeries are overpriced and underwhelming. These are the exceptions.
Vesuvio Bakery
Website. Vesuvio Bakery
Address. 160 Prince St, New York, NY 10012
Since its opening in 1920, Vesuvio has been a cherished part of the SoHo neighborhood, known for traditional Italian breads, pastries and desserts, everything in the bakery is crafted using time-honored techniques and top-notch ingredients.
Whether you’re enjoying the fan-favorite olive bread or treating yourself to a fresh cannoli, the SoHo bakery offers an authentic taste of Italian baking that keeps folks coming back for more.

My go-to ordering tip. ask the staff what’s popular that day.
Eileen’s Special Cheesecake
Website. Eileen’s Special Cheesecake
Location. 17 Cleveland Pl, New York, NY 10012
Since 1974, Eileen’s Special Cheesecake has been celebrated for making some of the best cheesecakes in NYC. The bakery is a family affair, it’s run by a mom and her two daughters and their cheesecakes aren’t just popular in NYC, they’re also recognized among the best in America by Food & Wine.
Unlike traditional New York cheesecakes, which are known for being dense, Eileen’s creations are fluffy, airy and soft. With over 15 flavors on offer (like coconut, salted caramel and pineapple), Eileen’s offers a variety that is great for every palate.

Maman
Website. Maman
Address. 239 Centre St, New York, NY 10013
For over a decade, Maman has charmed New Yorkers with really good French decor and delicious baked goods. From the renowned Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookie (which was voted Oprahs favorite) to savory Croque Maman sandwiches, each dish reflects a commitment to quality ingredients and unique flavors.
I highly recommend ordering the quiche, chocolate croissant, or their famous macadamia nut cookie. Plus, they serve some of the best coffee in New York City (not to be underestimated at a bakery).
The SoHo store is spacious and includes a covered patio area, providing plenty of tables to fill the bakery. With over 20 bakeries sprinkled around the city, the SoHo shop serves as the flagship location in New York City and should not be missed.
Ladurée
Website. Ladurée
Address. 398 W Broadway, New York, NY 10012
If you find yourself missing Paris but can’t stomach the cost of an international flight, hop over to Ladurée, one of the most charming bakeries in SoHo. Most famous for macaroons, Ladurée almost always has a line going out the door. You can grab some macaroons to go, or opt to sit down for a bite.
The indoor dinning area is perfectly Parisian and makes for a great spot to slow down and enjoy a sweet treat. But the outdoor patio is the only place to be in the spring (when the cherry blossoms go wild). Between the elegant decor and irresistible pastries, Ladurée is a place you need to try bakery in SoHo for any Francophile.
