But with average cocktail prices clocking in at $20+ a pop, happy hour is nothing short of a necessity. If you’re in a similar boat, allow me share my personal roundup of the best happy hour in the West Village, cheers!

Happy Hour.Tuesday – Sunday from 4:30-6:30pm | All night Mondays
Seafood served with a side of Cape Cod vibes, the Mermaid Oyster Bar dishes out one of the most generous oyster happy hours in the city, headlined by $1.25 oysters (minimum order of 6).
If you’re not into oysters, opt for the salmon tartar ($10) or mini fish tacos ($4) instead, assuming the fried calamari ($12) is already at the table, of course. Pair your bounty with $6 beer or $10 cocktails and wine. The $3 clam chowder can be skipped, it’s good but tiny, you’ll get more bang for your buck with other bites.
Warm and inviting, the Mermaid Oyster Bar is a top choice for happy hour in West Village, especially for seafood lovers, you won’t want to miss it.
Dante

For the cocktail enthusiasts among us, Dante needs no introduction. This popular neighborhood haunt was named the best bar in the world in 2019 (4 years after re-opening) and appeared on the list again 2020.
There’s two locations in the neighborhood. Caffe Dante and Dante West Village, it gets confusing because the bars are only a few blocks apart. But, there’s an important distinction between them.
During happy hour, Dante West Village offers $10 martinis while Caffe Dante offers $10 negronis. Depending on your libation of choice. Dante is one of my favorite places for happy hour in the West Village. Before getting pregnant, my husband I had a tradition of going every Friday after work, we can’t wait to get back into the swing of it.
Mace

Happy Hour. Monday-Friday 4-7pm
Helmed by Nico de Soto and Greg Boehm, Mace has graced the list of World’s Best Bars several years in a row. An astonishing feat, considering the bar only opened in 2015. Luckily, you can see what all the fuss is about for yourself because Mace offers one of the most generous happy hour deals in the West Village.
Weekdays from 4-7pm you’ll be privy to select cocktails for $12 pop. The tantalizing appetizers are half the draw, don’t sleep on the $1.75 oysters (minimum order of 6), crispy catfish tacos, thrice-cooked fries and refreshing watermelon + chamoy salad.
Amélie Wine Bar & Bistro

Happy Hour. Sunday-Thursday until 7pm | Friday & Saturday until 6pm
Amélie dishes up excellent French fare and a killer happy hour. The draw is the $14 wine flight, which gives you the opportunity to sample three wines from different regions (choose from a selection of rosé, white or red flights).
If you’re a frequent flier at the restaurant and have tried all the flights on offer, opt for a $10 glass of red, white, rosé, or sparkling (sommelier’s choice, changes daily) instead. Not into wine? Beer goes for $5. As for food, there’s a handful of small plates like truffle fries, beef tartare crostinis and chicken liver mousse to nibble on before the dinner reservation kicks in.
Roey’s

Happy Hour. Weekdays 4-6pm
Roey’s (casual sister restaurant to Rosemary’s) is a Neapolitan pizzeria with a killer happy hour. Weekdays from 4-5pm, you can score $5 spritzes, $4 beer and $7 margherita pizzas, which is unheard of in New York City. I mean, what more is there to say! If I lived in the neighborhood, this would be on constant rotation in my arsenal.
Pro tip. ask about their daily specials.
Unpopular opinion. I’ll say it. Where to Grab Happy Hour in the West Village (Table of Contents) deserves way more recognition than it gets.
Entwine
Petite-sized Entwine holds a special place in my heart when it comes to New York City happy hours. I frequent this place often, especially. The cocktail bar has an adorable garden and snug fireplace, striking the perfect balance between intimate and alluring.
Don’t be deceived by the shoe-box size, Entwine defies expectations with a generous happy hour menu. There’s more than ten discounted cocktails on offer (plus an assortment of beer and wine), along with incredible snacks (priced under $10), it’d be a shame to miss this local spot.
Ama Raw Bar

Happy hour. Monday-Thursday 5-7pm | Friday-Sunday 3-6pm
Ama Raw Bar is an Asian-inspired raw bar serving some of the best happy hour oyster deals in the West Village ($1.25 a pop!). As far as drinks go, you’ll find $11 cocktails (don’t sleep on the lychee martini) and a handful of beers and wine. There’s also $11 champagne, which is the perfect accompaniment to the oysters in my book.
Pro tip. ask about their daily specials. They rotate frequently and are usually some of the best things on the menu.
Bobo

Happy Hour.Daily 5 to 7PM (only in the den)
Between the $10 cocktails, $8 wines, $5 beer, and $2 oysters, Bobo’s is perfect for post-work gatherings with friends. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating, but happy hour specials are available exclusively in the den.
Trust me when I say the portions are generous here. I always end up taking something home, and honestly, the leftovers are almost as good the next day.
The Grey Dog

Happy Hour. Monday-Friday from 3-7pm | Saturday-Sunday 4-7pm
A popular neighborhood brunch spot, where The Grey Dog really shines between the hours of 3pm and 7pm (Monday through Friday). The deals are so good, that even if you weren’t searching for a West Village happy hour spot, you’d think you found one (based on regular prices).
During happy hour, you can score $4 beer, $6 wine and $7 margaritas and mules. For food, traditional pub appetizers go for $12, but if you buy two you’ll get the third free.
